Nearly two weeks ago my nephew was wed to Jasmine. At least according to my grand daughters.... the bride looked like Princess Jasmine.
It was a beautiful wedding, like many, but what I noticed about this affair is that is was all about having fun. While the bride and groom looked like the perfectly designed Hollywood image, their true motive was a pull-out-the-stops day of celebration.
An hour before the ceremony the Mother (my little sis) and Father of the Groom began sprucing, sprinkling and putting it on for the festivities ahead.
And of course a bit of bling makes a girl's outfit zing! Matching your toe polish to the color of your gown is a good move too.
After driving in circles for a while we finally arrived at the chapel hidden among the trees.
The chapel was wrapped in light from the many tall windows surrounding its perimeter. But it's beauty was not complete until it was filled with family and friends.
Waiting for the wedding party, could the bride's brother be remembering his own?
Grandmother (Lady In Blue) of the groom cooled her heals over a floor vent. A Marilyn Monroe moment for sure.
It once belonged to her mother and the tradition of passing it on began when her oldest child (my sister's husband) wed.
My sister wanted to keep the tradition alive and to welcome the bride into her family just as she was welcomed into Lady In Blue's. Sooooo... before the ceremony began and before the bride was adorned in her gown, Sister Yum-Yum passed the pin on to the next generation of wives.
The Bridesmaid gathered and waited.
The Groomsmen gathered and waited.
The ushers (more nephews) packed the house.....
Everybody came together and the wedding happened!
Yahoo! They were pronounced husband and wife!
Who says you need a threshold to hold up your new wife.... something I know Nephew Nice will do throughout their marriage.
After it was legal the bride showed her true colors.
Off came the heels and on went the boots
Check out the groom, checking out the bride...... "Ummmm, she looked good enough to touch."
Off came the veil as the gang loaded into the limo and made their way to the reception
When the couple arrived to take their place on the dance floor for the first dance, my grand daughters looked on as if watching a Disney fairytale... after all, Princess Jasmine was floating across the floor with her prince and at that moment we all knew they would live Happily Ever After.
Outside of the gown and the suit, the pomp and the flair and the fairytale image, lives love, respect, fun and a whole lot of people supporting Nephew Nice and his new wife.... especially his dad who will let them grow into their own while looking on with pleasure and pride.
Lovely Lass hopes to have a large family so what could it hurt to practice by holding her newest born niece?
The groom is all for practice and thinks that borowwing babies to hold is a great idea. He is eager to assume his role as husband, but willing to wait a while for that of father.
Weddings are for uniting...not only couples but families. Now our family of plenty has been multiplied and abundafied with the addition of Lass' family. Cousins distanced by many states found each other and began a friendship that will last a lifetime. People I never knew before have been added to my fondest memories file. And after they have practiced enough Nephew Nice and Lovely Lass will add their own unique creation to our combined families.
I hope your Saturday is fun. I hope you get an opportunity to be with family and friends and add someone new to your circle of support. I hope you live happily ever after.
