Middle One is almost as crazy as me when it comes to repurposing. Unlike me, she does not obsess over how to make an umbrella into a papasan chair, but she does think outside the box often. Currently she is involved in a project entitled, Clean Slate, that her church hosts every year. Several people ban together to give families or individuals a complete make over of their home, yard or rental. It takes place over a weekend and the transformations are amazing. More amazing, though, are the generous acts of kindness and long hours of labor that are extended to those in need, with no strings attached.
The particular project Middle One is involved in is not a home though. It is an elementary school teacher's lounge. Her charge is an art display to place in a trophy case visible to the teachers lounge and the students hall. She wanted it to be something relating to the school's athletic logo as well as interactive art.
She called upon her talented daddy to help in her endeavor. After mapping out her vision, she arrived at he-man's workshop early of a morning and began digging in his buckets of life-time collected treasures to gather all that was needed for her project.
Nuts, bolts, springs, electrical parts, flexible tubing, wire meshing, hinges, sticks and wooden embroidery hoops were set aside as if oysters containing precious pearls.
A few parts cleverly disassembled and rebuilt took on a new shape and soon Middle One had created a village of people from electrical outlets, nuts, screws and wire.
A wooden ladder from a child's building block set and he-man's artfully assembled scrap lumber were glued together for a special purpose...of which I have no clue.
I did sneak a peek at Middle One's inspiration, however.....

Quite intriguing.....
But most interesting to me is that in this world of vastly changing technology, new cyber-programs and boundless Internet interactions, Middle One's inspiration was pulled from a book whose copy right is 47 years old.
As the pile of pieces come together to take on more distinct shapes I will most likely take a few more pictures. I hope to visit the school when the project is finished and share that with you as well. So until the next reveal, I bid you adieu.
I hope you find inspiration in your day. I hope you join with other creative minds to transform your world. I hope that something in your life you once viewed as useless presents itself with a new purpose and refreshing joy.
