I received a surprise via UPS the other day. I love surprises, especially when they are from someone who knows me well.
My Sugarland Sister sent me a Coach purse..... well, actually her daughter, Wisdom, gave me the purse, but my sister gave it to her first.
The story goes like this.... While visiting in Texas in early July, Wisdom told me that she liked my purse, although she was not really a purse kind of gal herself. She spotted me right away as a woman who likes, purses, shoes, the latest fashion trend and jewelry. While we were exchanging our likes and dislikes her mom, who was nearby, told us that she had given Wisdom a Coach purse for Christmas, but didn't think she had ever used. it. Wisdom affirmed her mom's hunch and mentioned something about how I would probably use it every day if I owned it. We chatted about our personal styles for a while longer and really that is all I remember.
So when the hunky brown uniformed delivery man rang our bell the other morning, I was REALLY surprised. I not only got to exchange my Target bag for a a Coach purse, I got to be reminded of how giving my sis is.
The real delight for me was that my niece knew me well enough to know that I would like having it and that my sister took the effort to package it and send it to Oklahoma. That was way more meaningful than the purse itself.
When ever I sling my new purse over my shoulder I will think of my Sugarland Sister and Wisdom. I will feel their generosity and hear their voices and smile because we are shopping together. (which is funny because neither Wisdom nor Sugarland like to shop) I guess Texas and Oklahoma aren't really that far apart after all.
I hope you are delighted with an unexpected surprise. I hope their is someone in your life who knows you well and makes you smile. I hope you sling a bit of happiness over your shoulder today.
