A Day With The Boys

We had some overnight guests this weekend whom we had not seen in a while.  We used to see them once a week at the least but life moves at a faster pace during the growing years.  Our three grandchildren born unto our second daughter, are growing like Oklahoma Okra.  We used to be the designated babysitters on Sunday evenings when mom and dad went to church... but now they are old enough to go with them.  And they are all in school.... and they have many friends.... and they are involved in sports.....and they are involved in a church community... and they are doing all that they should in this season of the summer of their lives.

The weather was perfect - not raining - not windy and not too hot.  He-man-hubby invited the two little guys to go with him on his morning walk.  They raced for their sneakers and took off down the road.  Reminded me of the story of the piped piper. Hubby, Sci-Guy and Clone, head out to uncover the next great wonder lurking around the corner.

While they were walking Bluebird and I wandered about the back yard, inspecting the gardens and smelling the roses.

The Iris are fading.

The Day Lilies ready to burst open

And the Hydrangeas are seeking the sun

Bluebird found a couple of fouls waddling on the golf course and she thought she might join them, but they wanted to be alone.

While we were horning in on the ducks date. The three boys walked briskly up the drive.  I wondered why they had returned so soon.  Sci-Guy looked a bit anxious and He-man said there had been a slight mishap.

As I walked closer I could see that Sci-Guy had blood on his shirt and down his neck.  "Oh, Oh", I thought, "Hope we don't have to make an emergency room visit. "

Seems like Sci-Guy was talking and walking and didn't realize that he was the same height as the bottom of the metal mailbox on the curb.  Boom!  They met and Sci-Guy told He-man that he thought they should go home cause he had blood.

Our kitchen island quickly became the Triage unit and He-man hubby the doctor on duty.  After proper cleaning and close inspection.....

Of all body parts with markings of blood....

it was determined that only a small puncture, requiring no stitches was the source of all blood.

Sci-Guy was cool when he heard of the treatment plan - anti biotic cream and a short rest on the sofa, watching a movie.

And he had a memento of his first significant blood producing injury.  Legos turned sword now marked with a tattoo of a true super hero!

Hope your weather is pleasant today.  Hope you can take a nice walk, or wander through gardens.  Hope you don't hit your head on a mailbox.  Have a rest-filled Sabbath.
