The Great Rake Out

We live in an established neighborhood where trees are abundant.  This time of year there are more leaves on the lawn than on branches - which looks like nothing but work to me.  But to a child, a lawn covered in leaves means only one thing .................. FUN!

Sweeping up yards and yards of leaves is an ambitious task for a three-year-old,
leaving someone a bit discouraged and overwhelmed.
Armed with rakes and brooms the cousins stepped in to help. They moved the pile of leaves from the patio to the lawn, raking in more as they went, until they had built a mile-high pile for leaf-jumping.

Ready......... Set........ JUMP!
A few extra hands piled on more leaves was as if they were playing on a sandy shore.
A perfect dive - smack dab in the center.
Combine boys and a large pile of leaves and you've got a fort, or wrestling mat or gold mine.
Some girls, however, with the assistance of the wind, might use the fallen jewels to embellish their hair.

Naturally leaf jumping is followed by leaf tossing, creating a storm of happy participants.
It rained and..
rained and....
rained until...
little bodies lay drenched under patterns of fallen foliage.
Children don't care if hair gets dirty, arms get scratched, or clothes get torn.  They lay in the arms of nature as if they were born that way.
Faces become leaves and leaves become faces.
All the same amazing work of Creation.

25. I am grateful for the acorns that cover my driveway and feed the squirrels a hearty meal.

I hope your day is one where you are not overwhelmed by  tasks needing to be done.  I hope others come to lend their aid.  I hope what seems like work can be transformed into fun through the hands of Creation.
Yaya
